Heat Lights
The provision of an appropriate heat gradient for the species you are keeping is one of the most important aspects of reptile husbandry. As reptiles are ectothermic, they completely rely on the temperatures of their environment to regulate their body temperature. In most cases, Pet City recommends the use of an overhead white basking lamp as one of the most natural ways to heat your animal during the day. If the reptile requires night-time heating, then a non-emitting light source is preferred such as a ceramic heat emitter or deep heat projector/radiant heat emitter. Coloured heat lamps aren’t usually recommended as they are now known to disrupt the animals’ day/night cycle.
Keep in mind that these heat lamps do not emit essential UVB, so a separate UVB lamp is also required for your pet’s health.
