We have several departments including small pets, bird & reptile, aquarium and online and we pride ourselves on the specialised knowledge our passionate team can offer in these areas. Aquarium Department Sales Assistant 

Casual, part-time or full-time positions available for the right candidate

We’re on the lookout for a sales assistant in our Aquarium department (Freshwater & Marine). Hours are flexible within a 7 day roster. We're looking for someone who is experienced with marine and/or freshwater aquariums who will thrive in our busy store - helping other aquarium enthusiasts maintain their setup.    

We're looking for a bright and hardworking individual who:   

  • Has a keen interest and knowledge of maintaining an aquarium 

  • Has excellent customer service and verbal communication skills  

  • Enjoys sharing valuable advice with other aquarium enthusiasts  

  • Thrives in a team environment 

  • Has previous retail experience  

  • Has a positive, can-do, go-getter attitude  

  • Is available on weekends & public holidays  

The role: 

At Pet City, we pride ourselves on the passion and knowledge of our team. In this role, you will primarily be assisting aquarium customers by providing valuable information and product recommendations to help their aquariums thrive! 

The role also entails maintaining our in-store aquariums as well as restocking and tidying retail areas as needed.

 Bird & Reptile Department Sales Assistant

We're on the lookout for a sales assistant in our bird & reptile department (birds, reptiles & creepy crawlies). Hours are flexible within a 7 day roster. We're looking for someone who has first-hand experience looking after these pets who will thrive in our busy store - helping other pet-lovers.  

We are looking for someone who:  

  • Has solid knowledge of birds and/or reptiles 

  • Thrives in a team environment  

  • Has previous retail experience  

  • Enjoys sharing valuable advice with other pet lovers  

  • Has excellent verbal communication skills  

  • Is available on weekends & public holidays 

The role:

We're looking for someone who has first-hand experience looking after these pets and who will thrive in our busy store - helping other pet-lovers look after their fur-babies.  

We're looking for a bright and hardworking individual who:   

  • Has a keen interest and experience with dogs, cats, rats, mice & guinea pigs  
  • Has excellent customer service and verbal communication skills  
  • Has a genuine passion for pets & assisting their pet parents  
  • Thrives in a team environment 
  • Has proven retail sales skills  
  • Has a positive, can-do, go-getter attitude  
  • Is available on weekends & public holidays  

The role: 

At Pet City, we pride ourselves on the passion and knowledge of our team. In this role, you will primarily be assisting dog, cat & rodent customers by providing valuable information and product recommendations to help their pets live their best lives! 

The role also entails maintaining animal enclosures as well as restocking, merchandising and tidying retail areas as needed. 

This role offers a great variety in tasks as you may also occasionally help our online team pick and pack orders.

Experience with animal husbandry is highly regarded but not essential.  

A full time position is currently available for this role.

Cashier Sales Assistant

We’re on the lookout for a superstar front counter sales assistant. Hours are flexible within a 7 day roster. We're looking for someone who will thrive in our busy store - helping other pet-lovers look after their fur-babies.  

We're looking for a bright and hardworking individual who:   

  • Has a genuine interest in all things pets  
  • Has a bright, helpful and welcoming personality 
  • Thrives in a team environment 
  • Has proven retail sales skills  
  • Has excellent customer service and verbal communication skills  
  • Has a positive, can-do, go-getter attitude  
  • Is available on weekends & public holidays  

The role: 

At Pet City, we pride ourselves on the passion and knowledge of our team. In this role, you will be the first friendly face to greet our customers as well as the last point of contact to leave a lasting impression.  

The role also entails recommending various flea, tick and worming treatments to customers, as well as completing general administration tasks, restocking and tidying retail areas as needed. 

Experience with animal husbandry is highly regarded but not essential.

A casual position is currently available for this role, however for the right applicant, a more permanent position may also be available.
